I made these silver horseshoe cookies back in early September for a wedding being held in Saratoga, NY. The cookies were designed to include several details that were meaningful to the couple and their love story. First, they chose a horseshoe shape as the groom actually owns a racehorse and the wedding was being held in Saratoga, NY. It is a fitting shape for a wedding cookie as horseshoes are often seen as a sign of good luck. I hand-painted each horseshoe silver and we personalized the cookies by adding the couple’s monogram in violet. To tie in their wedding colors of lavender and baby blue we added 2 vines of delicate flower embroidery as well as the wedding date done in blue and finished the packaging with lavender tulle. My favorite subtle detail was the choice made by the couple to package the cookies so that they looked like a “U”. They actually met while in college at a football game at the University of Miami, who’s logo/symbol just happens to be a “U”…what a sweet touch!!
Since it’s now October I have some exciting news to share to start the week off! Last fall I was asked if I would like to have several pictures of my cookies included in the soon to be released 1000 Ideas for Decorating Cupcakes, Cookies, & Cakes. Of course I said yes! It’s slated for release in November 2010 and you can pre-order it on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble for a discounted price. In fact, if you click on the “Look Inside” button in the Amazon listing (if you’re logged in you can see an extended preview) you might actually recognize a few cookie pictures as you scroll through the pages…very neat!! I can’t wait to get my copy and see all of the amazing desserts created by other decorators!
